New DVD & Blu-ray releases: 6th August 2012

This week we have a highly anticipated re-release from MVM as well as a couple of new releases from Manga Entertainment.

Ergo Proxy is hitting UK shelves again this week after being absent for a long while. This dark sci-fi adventure takes place in the distant future after the world has been ravaged by long forgotten conflicts and mankind has been forced to live in domed cities controlled by authoritarian governments who believe that expression is cause for all wrongs in the world. Life is comfortable as long as you don’t question those with power but a series of unusual events is going to turn some peoples lives upside down as they will have to journey outside the city into the barren wastelands and discover that nothing is really what it seems.

Ergo Proxy is an intelligent and sophisticated anime series the likes of which are few and far between and is comfortably compared to the likes of many science fiction greats such as Logan’s Run, Blade Runner and even a hint of George Orwell’s 1984.
