New DVD & Blu-ray releases: 25th June 2012

It’s another good week for anime Blu-ray releases with three of the four releases coming out on the format, surely a sign that it is becoming increasingly popular?

This week we have two releases from Manga Entertainment the first of which is the highly anticipated UK release of Angel Beats! With clean and sleek animation and an original and unique story this is a colourful and creative series that is destined to garner a large following. We reviewed the series a couple of weeks ago and it earned itself a very respectable four star rating.

Also released this week from Manga and Kaze is the first part of Bleach series 9. With a new story arc as well as new packaging design its a fresh start for the series. You can find our review here.

StudioCanal, formerly Optimum Releasing, continue to the release their Studio Ghibli Collection on Blu-ray with Howl’s Moving Castle and Tales From Earthsea joining the collection. Both of these releases will now be available in these new Blu-ray/DVD combi sets.
