Manga Entertainment have confirmed via twitter that they will be releasing the first part of Tiger & Bunny as a DVD/Blu-ray combi pack this September. Manga had announced a while back that they would be releasing the series in the UK with Kaze but this is the first time anything concrete has been confirmed.
-Update- Kaze have confirmed that the series will in fact be getting released in October rather than September.
Tiger & Bunny first streamed in the UK via Anime on Demand and proved to be a massive hit both in Japan and overseas spawning large amounts of merchandise and even a stage play. The fact that it has proven to be a very popular license is most likely why Manga have decided to release the series on Blu-ray and the fact that it is bundled with the DVD release suggest that the entire series will almost certainly get a full Blu-ray release. It’s unlikely that Manga will cancel another series Blu-ray release part way though again after the criticism they got last year with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Casshern Sins.
Synopsis
Sternbild City is home to people called “Next,” who use their special abilities to protect the people as superheroes. These heroes solve cases and save lives so they can wear sponsor logos or acquire “hero points.” Their activities are documented on the popular program “Hero TV,” which picks the “King of Heroes” in a yearly ranking. The veteran hero Wild Tiger has always preferred to work alone, but now he’s been assigned the rookie Barnaby Brooks Jr., who has a different perspective on being a superhero.
