
It’s been a busy month for anime fans with lots of new announcements from Manga Entertainments. With March over and MCM Birmingham Expo coming to a close lets roundup some of the new series that have been announced.
Dragon Ball Z – 2nd July 2012 - Goku is back with his new son, Gohan, but just when things are getting settled down, the adventures continue. Whether he is facing enemies such as Frieza, Cell, or Buu, Goku is proven to be an elite of his own and discovers his race, Saiyan and is able to reach Super Saiyan 3 form. He meets many new people, gaining allies and well as enemies, as he still finds time to raise a family and be the happy-go-lucky Saiyan he is.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica – Release: Late 2012 - Beloved family, good friends, laughter and tears – these things make up the ordinary life of Kaname Madoka, a second year student of Mitakihara City Middle School. One night, Madoka dreams of a mysterious dark haired girl struggling against a terrible evil; the next morning she discovers that the girl, Akemi Homura, has transferred into her class. This encounter will lead to an incident which will alter Madoka’s fate forever.
Ōkami-san & Her Seven Companions – Late 2012 - Okami and Ringo are members of the Otogi Bank, a club in Otogi High School that assists students with their problems in return for their assistance on a different problem at a later date; thus the Otogi Bank is effectively a loan institute for problems where you can take out a loan for a solved problem but you have to repay it sooner or later.
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt – Release: TBC - A company of ghosts has moved into Daten City, taking advantage of human greed. Two angels, Panty and Stocking, are sent from heaven to exterminate them—but in reality they got kicked out for bad behavior.
Princess Resurrection – 20th August 2012 - Since Hiro Hiyorimi’s parents died, he and his sister Sawawa have lived apart. Now, Sawawa has gotten a new job as the caretaker of a creepy old mansion, and has sent Hiro a letter asking him to come and stay there with her. Finding the mansion boarded up and apparently empty, Hiro wanders around town looking for Sawawa. Instead, he runs into the new resident of the mansion, and ends up pushing her out of the way of some falling steel beams. Unfortunately, he loses his own life in the process. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, the person he thought he saved turns out to be a princess of the monster kingdom, and she grants him a second life…but only for as long as he will be her servant.
Squid Girl – Release: TBC - Squid Girl has come to the land from the depths of the sea to conquer humanity for its pollution of the ocean. Unfortunately she ruins the first house she uses as an invasion base and has to work to pay for repairs. Of course, she can’t overcome the Aizawa sisters who manage the house, so who knows whether she can subjugate humankind.
The World God Only Knows – Summer 2012 - Dating sim master Keima Katsuragi wants nothing more than to immerse himself in the 2D world, chasing digital girlfriends. But when the so-called “Capturing God” answers a mysterious email from an unknown sender, Keima finds himself chasing down real-life ladies in an attempt to help the peppy demon Elsie de Lute Irma capture “lost souls” escaped from the depths of hell. Now, lest the explosive collar around his neck detonate, Keima must convince various girls to fall in love with him in order to scare out the souls hiding in their hearts.
Chaos;Head – 22nd October 2012 - Takumi Nishijō suffers from intense delusions as a result of his apparent schizophrenia and the extremely secluded lifestyle he lives as a hikkikomori. One day he accidentally stumbles upon a gruesome murder scene, a part of a chain of events called “New Generation”. After this, his life gets caught up in these events, and he meets a bunch of increasingly insane anime girls with swords.
Some of the previously announced title have received release dates including Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos (3rd September 2012), Blue Exorcist (20th August – 29th October 2012), Clannad (28th May 2012) and Hetalia: Paint it White and Hetalia: Axis Powers World Series due in June and July respectively.
Even though 2012 has started off fairly slow with new releases the rest of the year is looking pretty full. Keep an eye out for our reviews od all these titles as the year progresses.
