On Saturday Bioware unveiled the prototype images for a new figure of Mass Effect 3 character Liara T’Soni. What was unexpected was the amount of controversy and debate this would case among fans. Many fans feel that it is over sexualized the character while other like the anime inspiration.
While some fans appreciate the new stylized appearance others do not and question why she is being perceived in a Japanese anime style with exaggerated features.
The Bishoujo range of PVC figures is produced by Kotobukiya, the figures are based on illustrations by renown character designer Shunya Yamashita (Final Fantasy X, Valkyrie Profile 2). Although the series started off with mostly Marvel and DC Comics heroines it has recently started to branch into other popular franchises including Tekken and Ghost Busters.
